Institute of Christian Art History

Since 2003, The Institute of  Christian Art History has been an integral part of the KTF. The Institute’s task is to examine links between the history of arts and related subjects, including history, religious history, other history sciences, archaeology, Christian iconography and liturgy. The teachers lead lectures and seminars as well as excursions to historical monuments in the Czech Republic and abroad. Furthermore, they organize joint exhibitions with their students.

The Institute of Christian Art History is focused on history of fine arts (architecture, sculpture, painting, drawing, graphics and handicraft), with particular emphasis on Christian sacral art, in theological, historical and cultural context. Along with the history of arts – namely sacral arts, the students attend other relevant subjects essential for undestanding of the spiritual sources of the Christian art.
