Together with colleagues from the Protestant Theological Faculty, we organise an orientation programme from 2020. The program is held twice a year at the beginning of each semester. The program at the beginning of the winter semester lasts two weeks, the program at the beginning of the summer semester one week. The goal of the program is to familiarize participants with the specifics of student life in Prague and to meet their classmates before the semester begins. In the mornings, participants have the opportunity to attend an intensive Czech language course. The afternoon program is dedicated to excursions. Apart from administrative matters, such as getting student cards or familiarising ourselves with the student information system, we also visit various landmarks, galleries and museums. The program ends with an all-day trip outside of Prague.
As part of the orientation programme for the autumn of 2023, we first admired Prague from the Petřín lookout tower and visited the Strahov Monastery, famous for its library. Later we wisited the second Prague castle - the legendary Vyšehrad. We saw not only the ancient churches there but also the underground passages from the time when the castle was rebuilt into a Baroque fortress, where the originals of some of the statues from Charles Bridge are now located. We finished the program with a weekend trip to Křivoklát Castle.
